I am looking for a fairly inexpensive rifle. Something simmiliar to a .30 Caliber M1 Carbine that can be used for target practicing, hunting, etc. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

Why not check out the auction sites and look for a commercial made copy of the USGI carbine, which has been collected into the Ionosphere as far as prices are concerned.:eek2:
The same collectors of the USGI stuff disdane the commercial copies made by such firms as Universal, Iver Johnson and IMI, so the prices are still affordable to people who'd rather shoot em than hoard em:p

Marlin .22lr autorifle. both very useful. CorBon's 150 gr softpoint ammo makes the sks fully the ballistic equal to the 3030, with a gun costing 1/3rd as much, and [practice ammo costing 1/4 as much. :-) If the sks lacks a rubber recoil pad, and you are sensitive to recoil, get a thick shotgun style pad, shorten the buttstock if need be, to make the padded stock fit you properly.
