He fired one more, to EXECUTE a Jap who was completely unaware of Jeff's presence, and in one of those cases,Jeff could easily have had ,and SHOULD have had, a .30 carbine at the ready. One case,he climbed a tree,so that might have made him too slow to bring a carbine up when he and a Jap spotted each other at the same time. The other time,he was RIDING in a jeep when some clown jumped out into the road (in front of Jeff)andstarted spraying the jeep with an smg. Instead of taking 3-4 seconds to dive out of the jeep, draw a 1911 from a shoulder rig, and fire, he could have just raised the Carbine and killed the fool, from where he sat in the jeep. This is all ASSUMING, of course, that Jeff didn't just make up those stories of the whole cloth.

No gun whatsoever is needed to be "on the run" from the cops. I know that for a FACT. What'sneeded is MONEY, for disguises, fake ID, not needing to WORK a regular job, and eventually,for a new face.
