I can't believe you suggest keeping your rifles optic in a belt pouch and only mounting it for the long shots. Whats that for you, 75 yards? Gee, are you going to varify the zero every time you remount it for that long range work?
Not to mention the obvious limitations of trying to use a dismounted rifle optic for general observation.

He wants to be the Wandering Hobo of the Apocalypse.
A pair of Tasco mini-binos are what? $12 to $15?
with 70 lbs instead of 50 total. I pared off every oz I could, and 50 lbs is still too much

You can't even come close to doing a proper scan using a rifle scope, on or off of the weapon.
There's no substitute for a decent pair of bino's.
And only a moron would try to claim that they are only useful if the user is standing in the open in broad daylight....

Yes, GK, your weight adds up, but binos are one of the last things you ditch. I keep a pair or 6x16mm autofocus mini-binos in a pocket of my LBV. A GI lensatic compass in another pocket.

Uh, Mike -- The TARD doesn't understand the Lensatic compass. It's probably a little too high tech.

You notice if gunkid breaks anything he is carrying then he is up the creek. He has NO backup for anything he carries. If his CAR/.22 breaks or is dammaged then he is sunk. If his scope fails he has nothing to back it up. If his pos Star pistol fails, parts will be non-existant. Compass, hah! He can't have that fail cause he don't have one and he don't know how to use one and he won't have time to learn, that's for sure. I bet he will carry only one pair of socks (he one's he is wearing), one pair of shoes (the ones he will be wearing). No sleeping bag, no tent, no rain cover, no nothing. And then he will get lost in a swamp....
