You are totally FOS, maybe the cheap tubing you've tried will break like that.

You have crappy shot placement with a gun, anyone remember the rabbit hit in the foot with a .308 proving his claim that a .308 was worthless?

I suspect you have even worse shot placement issues with a slingshot.
