a 1911 slide to "drag forward" the barrel, which of course causes feeding problems. Too tight a barrel bushing, a bushing that's "cocked' at an incorrect angle (due to rust or crud buildup, too rough an exterior onthe barrel, or inside of the slide, can also cause this problem. If your rd is caught halfway in the chamber, and gently tapping the muzzle (NOT with your hand) lets the rd chamber,then you've got a slide-barrel "drag" problem.

Don't forget not fitting the barrel properly can cause all sorts of issues...

I've never seen crud or rust on my .45. Anybody wanna explain how it gets there! Wait a minute, maybe gunkid doesn't know how to disassemble one.
