A while back I ordered an unbarreled Boomer .50 action from McMillian. Well, it came in Saturday.

Now, what the hell should I do with it? I'm tempted to build another .50 using a Mike Rock barrel but I've also given a thought or two about going wildcat on this one.

I could easily do a 10x99mm Express. Or something completely radical.

Decisions, decisions, decisions...

You could do the SSK Ind's. 14.5mm JDJ or the .510 DTC. Both use the .50 BMG case, the .510 DTC uses all the same components as the .50 BMG.

sorry couldn't help that.
would .338 be too much of an overbore situation?
too bad you cant cut it off where the case starts to neck down and use a traditional jacketed hollow point. :)
.458 you could use solids then.

Well, after spending nearly two hours on the phone with Mike Rock on this subject, I've decided to do a .50 BMG for now. I'm going to put a new barrel design of his on it and see how it holds up for accuracy and life...

Hard Ball, keep us advised of every step, from begining to completion. That sounds like a fun project.

The barrel sounds interesting.

Can you do pictures of the major steps along the way?

Good! I think there will be quiet a lot of interest in your project.
