The governor of MA was just announced as travelling from DC back to Boston, "to prove it's safe"; that's how they worded it. Not "to demonstrate his belief that it's safe", or "join his constituents", but "to prove it's safe".

Wonder how a politician showing up somewhere suddenly "proves" it's safe there...?

(Oh, that's right. Symbolism and appearance is all that counts. Silly friggin' me...)
