Anyone have experience with the Beretta Tomcat .32?

Posted this the other day, didn't survive the crash, I guess. There's no reason to bother with the .32, in any format. there's a 9mm that's plenty lw and small enough to always be with you, so why settle for 1/4 as much power, and pay 2-3x as much for the practice ammo, hmm? Tomcat has no extractor.

No experience with the Tomcat itself, but for a good while, I carried the Bobcat (.22lr model 21A). Several years ago, I switched from it to the KelTec P32. The Beretta is a “nicer” gun (finish, etc), but the P32 is 100% reliable (as was the 21A with ammo it liked), the P32 is also smaller, lighter, thinner, more rust resistant (my 21A’s blued, not parkerized), has the same 7+1 capacity, and throws a bullet almost twice as big.

.32 ammo does cost more than .22, no way around that. The Tomcat should be a very “nice” gun, but IMO, if you’re looking to conceal it, there’s others that offer the same performance in a smaller package; or more performance in a similar-size package.

If you’re not looking to conceal it, there are options that give other benefits. (Cheaper, more common ammo, more comfortable shooting, etc.)

Not knocking the Tomcat; it’s a very nicely-made gun, and would work as a pocket gun. I just suspect there are more versatile or capable options.

Andy’s right about the lack of extractor. The 21A was the same, which concerned me when I first bought it, but it still functioned fine.

Just opinions here. If you like it, get it.
