Anyone use WC 872 in 50BMG?

Anyone have any loads or experience with this powder in reloading the big boy?

No, I know guys that do though.... I'll dig up some data for you. I use IMR 5051 for the most part in my loads. I've been very pleased with the results.

I'll post my load data on the stuff I use... Please share yours. Not enough load data for the .50 around.

Since it is a slower powder,,you can work up a little higher than W860 or IMR5010 ,, Usually for an initial load test I go 50 thou off the lands and 210 gr. W872...Just do not use that load for spotter tracers,,,those need to be down around 1800 fps. As well you need to overpressure as in any load,,, Hard extraction,flattened primers, and gas bleed are a few,,,

I thought I heard that many of the benchrest shooters prefer the Vihtavuori powder...... But heck, I guess if you are not doing 1,000 yard matches and just playing around (like I do), the price of the surplus powders is VERY hard to beat considering the volume of powder each round uses.

Besides, a 2 inch group at 100 yards with .5 inch projectiles looks more impressive then a .5 inch group with .224 projectiles. :)
