Last SPring I bought my Son an Armalite M15 Carbine as an early wedding present. Now that the ban has died I'd like to switch the fixed stock for an adjustable one, since he's alway's lusted after my Colt Carbine. Does anyone have source for these stocks? Are they tough to switch out or is it something any qualified gunsmith could do? I wrote Armalite but haven't heard back from them. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm surprised that Armalite treated you that way. A couple of years ago I had reason to email them about some questions regarding my M15A2(LE). I found them quick to respond and very helpful.

Terry,I'd hoped that someone who'd actually done it would post but, what the heck!,right?

That's just one of the places that offer them for sale.Aim Surplus is another.A couple of days ago I searched all the AR manufacturers that I could think of looking for something else.Although Armalite doesn't seem to list a collapsible buttstock individually(yet?),there were others that did. Can't recall who though-as I said,I was looking at something else at the time.
As far as ease of install,my newly out-of-service-Marine friend assures me that you just need a spanner wrench(also available from Tapco.IIRC,Georgio on this forum is a salesman from there-might want to contact him?)
They are nifty looking,aren't they?
LOL!I just noticed that the spanner wrench is for sale on the same page-just a little farther down.:)

i missed this post by a long shot!
it is a 'no-chore'
the spanner wrench, a large flat-tip screw-driver, and a 10" cresent
are all you need,
however, watch your buffer assembley retaining pin/spring.[and your back 'break down' reciever pin detent spring]
it's simple.

You almost certainly already know this, but remember you’ll also need a new buffer as well as a new stock. Not sure about buffer springs; I don’t recall if they’re different as well or not.

Thanks for your input, Guy's. I went with the four position Rock River Arms stock. It comes with buffer and spring. It was a bit higher than the TAPCO, but since it matches my Colt stock more closely I went with that one. Everybody say's the change is simple, but I'm still going to have a 'smith do it. I can just me screwing up my son's brand-new rifle.
