View Full Version : Knew 2 guys who put .45's down their legs
one with 200 gr lrn, 750 fps, one with military ball, Both were able to hobble around, stayed conscious, were on crutches about a week, all healed up in a month or so. I knew another kid whose leg was in a cast for months, over a .22 down his leg, he hit blood vessels, bone, nerves.
Your statement means nothing unless you include details of the wounds. Yours is just another nitwit post to up your count. Try harder andy.

Mabye its because if you hit the MAJOR ARTERY IN YOUR LEGS (the Corodid if i remember from biology) YOU ARE SCRREWED!
The .45s probly didnt hit it and the .22 lucked out.
And what does this thread have to do with shotguns?

Andy uses anecdotal evidence to support his claims when it suits him. He also conveniently leaves out all the relevant facts.

Carotid's in the neck. The femoral's in the legs.
Barnes & Noble usually has copies of Gray's Anatomy for about 10 bucks. It's worth a peek if you start getting curious about what's possibly lethal and what's not.

Thanks for the correction wylycoyote, guess i named the wrong artery :(
Either way, he missed the femoral (props for wyly on that, THANKS) artery in his leg.

The femoral is on the inside of the leg, and is about the size of your little finger. I read a stat somewhere that said you'll bleed out in 22 seconds from a completely severed femoral artery.
Surely, in CowardKid's example the .45s hit meat and not much else on teh way down, as he describes the .22 as hitting bone and tendon and convienently forgot to mention ANYTHING about the .45s' wound paths. All this DOES NOT prove his point that the .22 is some uber-cartridge, rather it proves OUR point that placement is what counts.

Let me guess, you were one of them. Or both incidents happened to you. (I guess you didn't learn after the first round?)

Well, all I can say is...
Its called a safety. Its that funny little lever on the side of your gun, and the neat thing is, that your gun shouldnt go off when it is in the "safe" position.
Well Davis, you learn something new every day!
(who the hell lets this lunatic within 200 ft of a gun...)

as you've always told me, "exceptions to the rule"
by what mechanism can a .22lr be more dangerous than .45ACP given the same hits?
nobody doubts .22s are lethal... but jeezman... vs. .45 acp??
