4" barrel, he was fubar'd for MONTHS, had one of the nastiest scars you've ever seen. :-) Knew a black guy who'd been shot twice in the chest, 158 gr 357 JHP's, during a fight with the cops. Scars above and below his collarbone. He fought them hand to hand for a while after the shooting. In the cop car, on the way to jail, he noticed that he was bleeding, had not noticed that he'd been shot twice, full of coke, running from the cops, shooting at them, etc.

Seriously though, the guy hit around the collarbone would be out for the count, maybe not immediately but I would imagine there would be a rediculous amount of vital arteries/muscle/WINDPIPE damaged if not downright destroyed.
