I was talking with someone at Kimber last month and they told me that the new .17 HM2 Kimber 1911's will be released in May.

I've actually been looking for some .17 Mach 2 handguns at the last couple of gun shows I've been to and haven't seen any. Saw a couple of rifles chambered for it, but I can't see getting one of those over the .17HMR round. Now in a handgun, yes, that does interest me.

Wish Walther would come out with one of their little .22 automatics in .17 Mach 2. I think I would pick up one of those.

Actually Walther has a pretty nifty looking .22 carbine that I really like the looks of. Now THAT would be pretty nice in .17 HMR I think. Or heck, I might even be interested in it with the .17 Mach 2 round.

But what I would REALLY like is to see that Walther carbine in 5.7x28! Now THAT would be wicked!

what's the point? If 22lr aint enough, 9mm or 223 aint too much.

Yes, the .17 HM2 from a pistol is a bit on the weak side. However, it's a splendidly accurate cartridge. Articles in some of the gun magazines have claimed 1/2" groups at 25 yards from the Kimber 1911. If it is only half that accurate, it would still be a spectacularly accurate pistol.
