from an old beat up, coverless book....
---------------------------------------------------------------

People see other in terms of themselves. If you are ambitious, that is the way you see others. If you are greedy, you see others in terms of desire.
It is easy to keep things at a distance. It is harder to be aloof of them.
When you are deluded, you are used by your body. When you are enlightened, you use your body.
If there is any judgement in your heart, it will be blocked by your judgement.
There is no Buddha outside your heart. Always keep a pure, clean heart.
It is only necessary to see and hear directly.
If you actually manage to see your basic mind, you must treat it as if you were raising an infant.

I am kinda getting interested in Zen, a friend of mind told me a little about it. Got any more Zen stuff to post, Krept?

absolutely. it's great because a lot of it really comes back to "hey, you don't need to read this in order to understand it!!"

it's the most profound puzzle in the world and it either has an infinite number of pieces or none at all...

:D :D :D

Last night I read the Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff. Pretty good stuff.

have heard that is a GREAT book. Taoism is a little different than zen, it deals with the cyclical nature of things and of course how opposites come together to create the way, but I digress...

I'll have to read it sometimes. For now, however, I get lost in koans (http://www.ciolek.com/WWWVLPages/ZenPages/KoanStudy.html#Definitions) ...

Got it as well, am starting it, but cannot sit down and finish reading it until I finish this school assigment. Both books are very unusual, have not read anything like them before and I think I am learning a lot about myself and others. Kind of late to be doing that, but life is lived one day at a time....
