Well I know these are nothing new, but its the first one I've gotten. It's a M38 carbine payed $90.00 out the door, rifling is pristine.

Good buy, Copycat. Got to love those C&R's. It will kick like the proverbial mule, but I like them. Mines an M-44. I had to beat the crap out of the front sight to make it "shoot where it looked", but it was worth it. Mine is pristine except for a bolt head sized dent in the stock near the wrist. I have seen quite a few damaged in the same way. Improper storage?

Not sure where you live Copycat, but those make great close-in hog guns. Stoked mine with the 203-gr barnaul SP ammo, knocked 'em down like they were hit in the head by a greased anvil dropped by God.

Sorry no wild hogs here in colorado (at least that I know of) but there is a **** load of antelope in my area. The only thing is that would be to easy, since I have to chase them away from my car in the morning.
I did get the M38 out last weekend and ran about 50 rounds through it (about all my shoulder could stand for the first time). It actually seemed pretty accurate at 50yds I was keeping them in about 3 to 4 inch groups, at 100yds (off the roof of my car) I was hitting a paper plate pretty regularly.
It cleaned up pretty good must have taken a half inch of shalack(sp) off before it started to shine up.

Congrats. Mosin Nagants are one of my favorite old-time rifles. I just ordered 2 Yugo 59's and one M48. My next purchase will be a couple of arsenal refinished M44s, I think.
