Is the greatest hunting round ever. I've been in Colorado for over 6 months and haven't shot a single round in this state until this morning. I woke up, and saw this cute little bird in my backyard, so I did the first thing that came to my mind...I grabbed my 39a (which hasn't even been sighted in yet), which was loaded with them .22 shorts (I'sa beens told there were coons in my neighborhood, and I live in Fort Collins, yadda yadda). Anyway, I took aim, *snap* *poof* and I had my first shot, and I had my first Colorado kill. I was thinking about shooting his little buddy, which came down to join him a few moments later, but decided I had my trophy for the day.
But damn, I'd never used .22 shorts before, sounded like an air rifle and thwacked that little thing like a sledge hammer. It didn't die instantly, but he was down for the count, no twitching, but a few seconds of heavy breathing. Them little birds are light framed little things, but I can't wait to shoot me coon with it.
