Hard Rock suggested a separate thread for terminal performance pictures I have from the weekend shooting chucks with reloads using 50 V Max bullets in the .220 Swift in a Ruger M77 Mark II.
An excellent idea Thanks Meester Hard Rock.
Well here goes pictures shown are shots from various ranges and show the difference in performance as bullet speed decreases. Hitting bone structure caused the bullets to grenade. The longest hit was through the ribs and the bullet did not fragment though it did take most of the lungs ect out the other side on exit.
All distances to targets were paced out as no range finder was available (Damn I need a range finder as well as a chrony) distances should be within 2-3 yards of numbers given. Estimated muzzle velocity 3900-4000 feet per second.
Pic (1) 121 yards
Pic (2) 187 yards
Pic (3) 203 yards
Pic (4) 272 yards
Pic (5) 318 yards
I suspect if head shots were made each and every time explosive results would continue out to about the 400 yard range. This means I must spend more time on the bench to become more proficient at ranges greater than 300 yards. I am going to switch it up for the next test and load using Blitz Kings. Hopefully I won't have to tinker too much to get the accuracy the V Max's are giving. I will keep you all posted.
