im at a major toss up between a nikon and a leupold ive read the previous forum and every1 swears to the leupold. Both manufacturers offer a full lifetime warranty, both are ultra clear i dont want overkill as far as range but i do know a 7mm can reach out and touch something,so i want something with more magnification than a 3-9x40/50,both are waterproof, fogproof and shockproof,I am not rich so i cant afford the super high dollar scopes but the 3 scopes i was mainly looking at are a Nikon BuckMasters 4-12x50,NIKON BUCKMASTERS 6-18X40 AO,NIKOPLEX with side focus.
or a Leupold VX-II 4-12x50 Wide Duplex but there is a $150-200 difference between that leupold and the leupold 3-9x50 and i really cant afford that.I hunt deer and hopefully bigger game in the future,I dont hunt in very low light conditions,it just seem like with leupold once you get past the average 3-9 magnification they jack up the price drastically i dont want something cheap, hell all 3 scopes are already double what i payed for the gun i got the gun brand new in box clearanced at walmart for $175.i shot it with the simmons scope it came with and it shoots incredibly accurate but for how long with a cheap scope. if anyone can offer me insight please do

nikon uses plastic internal lenses in there scopes. leuopold does not. question answered, i would suppose.

technically acrylics are optically clearer and more transmitant of light than glass.
but degrade with light exposure and heat.

how long do you want to keep scope?

also not to haggle but you may wish to check with nikon on the plastic lense thing.

for the record.......leupold here too
