View Full Version : Thoughts on the EO Tech?
Anyone worked with one of the EO Tech holographic sights?

The best combat optic going, in my opinion.
I'll take the resounding silence as a "no". :santa:

I tried out a Bushnell Holosight a while back. I covered my rather dissatisfactory experience here: http://www.armslocker.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28052
Not sure if the same problem would apply with this newer unit, but I certainly wouldn't buy one unless I had a money back guarantee. Not saying the unit would be at fault, but if there is some flaw in my eyesite that prevents me from using it, I certainly don't need it as a paperweight.
It sounds like you were holding the sight and looking for the reticle. Is this correct?
This is difficult to do with an EOTech, due to the nature of the holgraphic image. While the reticle may not be crystal clear, it is plenty crisp enough for CQB out to 300M. The brighter the setting, the fuzzier the image, also.
I've been running one since mid 2003 with no complaints. There were some longevity/durability issues that have been worked out over the last several years and I'm as confidant in the current EOTech products as I am with the M68/Aimpoint.
I"d never trust anything electronic for shtf. It would be a bad deal to learn to shoot with nothing but an optical sight, or even to stop practicing with the irons. So the optics are just a match, rule-beater sort of item. As such, the decent ones cost a lot.

No. I could see the reticle, but it was fuzzy as hell. Basically useless unless you wanted a 30 MOA dot. :)

I have a multi-reticle Hakko on my A3 Bushmaster. It is quite satisfactory and set-up to co-witness with the standard front sight/tower and a Wilson Combat folder at the rear.
It works most accurately at the lower power sttings, as the dot gets a little blobby/blurry on the brighter settings.

I’m running an EOTech 512F with A.R.M.S #40 BUIS. Compared to Aimpoints I have used in the past the EOTech is a far superior battle optic in my opinion.

why? Anyone can claim this or that. What's your REASON for saying such?

I would think the EOTech would allow for faster acquisition. But The aimpoints look pretty solid to me. How's the build of the EOTech compare?
Are you using any NVD with your EOTech?
Thanks in advance for the info.

Gylnn: Compared to the Aimpoint model sights EOTech’s have a much wider range of view, another advantage is the 65 MOA ring which allows for targets beyond 280M to be engaged accurately. These are all personal preferences, both are very solid sights.
Aslan: Both are built within military specifications so they are both very solid optics. EOTech produces the model 552 which allows for a separate NVD to coincide with the optic. I have several night vision optics but find the weight they add is not worth the over all performance, a Surefire vertical weapons light works just fine for me.
