I was just looking at some of my gear (Thinking about doing some pictures), and realized that I have several flashlights that are worth mentioning.
I was curious about what y'all carry in the way of flashlights.
I have the following:
Surefire 6z
Streamlight Scorpion
Red LED task light
Princeton light.
The first two are obviously tactical xenon lights.
The red task light is a single led light that uses a single AA battery it it built every bit as tough as a tactical light.
The princeton is a conventional flashlight that uses 4 AA batteries. (I want to get an led module for it, but haven't to date.)
I also have a "tactical" light I bought from cheaper than dirt. (if you buy one, don't plan on using it tactically - heavy jarring can make it go out.) I put a yellow and blue filter on it to make it give a green light. Useful, but I would not rely on this flashlight.

I usually have a Surefire E2e close by. Next in line would be a white Inova X5T for a floodlight... takes the same CR123 batteries as the E2e. For a 1 x AA light, I have single LED light, called a (something) Ultra, I think it's made by Gerber now. Smallest working light is an Arc AAA.

All I have is a pile (literally)of c-,& d-cell Maglights. From 2-6 cells.I used to sell them at the parts store & I'd pick one up when they went on sale.
My only LED light is one on a headband.I was blown away at how handy that headband light is.Less so w/the LEDs performance.(honestly though,it is a few years old-I know that LEDs have improved markedably)
I had to check.
6 cell Maglite
2 or 3 6" length AA Maglites
Streamlight Stylus
AAA Maglite Solitare
probably 1/2 dozen generic C cell lights.

My carry flashlights are: squeeze led light on main keyring, AAA minimag for the small keyring, surefire 6P on work belt and minimag on regular belt (and I'm not afraid of the dark, either, I just like flashlights). I've also got a 3D Maglite in the kitchen to check outside.
In addition to the above, I've got a pile of cheapo military angle head and non angle head 2D lights, as well as a few generic 3D flashlights floating around in the shed, hallway, kitchen, cellar stairs, cellar, car trunk, under passenger seat, trunk, lazy boy chair, and probably a few places I've forgotten.

I guess I'm afraid of the dark or something but I own 10 mag lights, 3 led hunting headband lights, and 4 of those 2for$3 d size flashlights. I got them stached in every room of the house. The woman of the house insisted. And the batteries don't cost me anything, in this case it's who i know.

I've got one each of the D-cell Maglites.
A mix of LEDs.
One of the 4-AA Brinkman ones fromWally World.
One Task Light in white, oh BTW my Red one burned out and I need to see if they will replace it.
2 of the Craftsman brand 2-AA lights similar in apperance to a Mini-Maglite but they turn on and off by twisting the tail cap or can be set to use a pressure switch on the tail cap.

I was more interested in general carry lights, as I have a boatload of mags, mini-mags, generics, and el-cheapo flash lights. (They're sort like guns, you just can't have too many of them.)

Hello; my name is John and I’m a flashoholic…
Two of the obligatory 3D cell maglites; had them for about 15 years now and they still work great.
The unavoidable AA mini-mag lites. Not nearly as ‘top-end’ now as when they first came out, due to newer designs, but they don’t know any different. They just still work.
Stylus (RIKA – I thought that was ASP, not Streamlight…?) 2-AAAA in red LED, great for looking under car seats & in trunks & glove compartments after dark.
Two Stingers, the old style. Not the most cutting-edge nowadays, but work very well.
“Scion” by Streamlight; basically a mini-version of the Stinger. Rechargeable as well.
Two Streamlight 7-LED, 4-AA lights (one in each vehicle). They’re more than enough for changing a tire, etc, and the batteries will run for 40-60 hours without changing.
Relatively cheap Brinkmann LED 2-AA from Walmart. Works ok, but have doubts about its ruggedness.
Relatively cheap Brinkmann 4-LED, 3D light. As much light output as you’d ever need inside a house, and one set of batteries lasts for over a hundred hours. Gave that one to my mother (after testing) for her house flashlight, as she’s 70+ and it won’t be subjected to hard use with her, and the batteries will last longer than any power outage she has to deal with.
Latest one is a 1-LED, 3-AAA Coast “TAC Torch”. One LED, but it’s got some kind of booster circuitry that makes it blindingly bright. Even in broad daylight, at arm’s length pointed for a second back at you, it will leave “floaters” in your eyes for several minutes; it’s that bright. Batteries last 13-16 hours, although it’s less than half as bright after ten or so. Only thing I don’t like is its shape. It’s a 1” x 4.5” cylinder, so if you set it down to work, it wants to roll away; although it does have a lanyard hole so some kind of anchor could be attached. Even has a decent nylon belt sheath. Got it at Lowe’s of all places. It rides in my truck, in addition to the Streamlight 7-LED light.
I have a head-lamp LED light as well that was a gift. Don't recall make, but it's handy occasionally.
Could never get used to a headband light for some reason. I've also tried an alligator clip on a micromag to put on a hatband, but didn't like that too much either. For some reason, the only hands free way I'm comfortable holding a flashlight is in my teeth after having wrapped the light in tape.
Forgot to mention that I also keep a couple of lightsticks, both chemical and battery powered for area light. Also, the micro lightsticks for marking tent lines or as a "night sight" for my bow by taping them to my pins for early morning / late afternoon.

A funny(?) story.
Last sunday, about 4 PM we had a brief thunderstorm that took out the power on my block. It stayed off until 10 o'clock the next morning.
3 five d=cell
2 three d-cell
1 three c-cell
1 led headband
2 mini maglights
ALL DEAD
It was an el cheapo $1.99 Everready that saved my bacon(sanity)that night.
I was out of mantles,& my candle stash was about gone & only lasted for an hour.
You can bet your britches that I stocked up monday night.

Sham shame shame.... :bird: :duck:
Well it reminded me to post a pic of the LED lights I found at Sears.
Takes 2 AA batteries and has a combo twist on & pressure switch in the tail cap.
Plus it's mainly aluminum construction.

For the rare occasion when the power goes out here I have a ton of candles (making beeswax candles is sort of a hobby of mine) and maybe a half dozen oil lamps.
I keep a 3D cell Maglight in each of the vehicles and have a couple mini mags in my tool boxes. This always worked well for me, until........
I stopped off at the gunstore today for some 7.62x54 and walked out with a Surefire G2. A friend of mine introduced me to them on our last camping trip and all I can say is that it made my mini-mag look like a candle. It set me back 32 bucks but I plan to get one for each vehicle. I know that some of the other Surfire lights are in the 100-200 dollar range and I'm not prepared to spend that kind of cash. I do like this G2 though!! :bow01:

I'm fond of the Streamlight Twin Task flashlights... I have both two D and two C cell versions... and, thought the LEDs are not awesome, I am very impressed with the battery life.

Well,I stopped at Sears last night.I picked up a red version of the light Mabu Khan showed. It's a nice little lamp.Up close it has a very nice, even beam. There are no shadows or dull spots.A mini-mag is brighter & projects farther but doesnt produce the same quality of light up close.
Then I picked up this little honey http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&pid=03493275000 WOW!The size of a roll of quarters w/the weight of a mini-mag.This one throws a lot of bright, even light. The manufacturer doesn't supply a battery hour life but I expect that that has more to do w/different battery quality than another reason.
Just for kicks I took this one outside at midnight along w/a 5 D cell Maglite. The Maglite produced the typical, yellow cone but the led put out a wall of even, white light. It projected that light almost as far as the Maglite.I say almost because the Maglite has the option of tightening the beam into a an intense cone.
For the $25 bucks I'd say I got a winner. Now,I'm going to see about the same company's 3watt version.

too-funny!, as i just brought home a 15,000,000 candle-power rechargable spot-light[friday] the girl-friend said "that's the most stupid/silly thing i've ever saw you drag home",,,i said "i know, but it cracked me up, way to much to pass, on it" as it's 'shaped' like a 6 volt light,,,only for the JOLLY-GREEN-GIANT! in fact, i think i'll try it out right now![i've charged it and forgotten about it,already, it's huge, like an old gym-bag from school!]
it cost,$40! big-deal.
WOW! THAT SUCKER WILL 'LIGHT-UP' THE SIDE OF A HOUSE 440 YARDS AWAY! i need to field-test this in-depth.
Brass, put red filter on it and use it for varmints.

keeping in the spirit of the thread, i bought[today, while buying chain-link fencing components, again impulse-spending] my first "high-tech" L,E,D, 'light'
made by coast[china] the VAUNTED led-lenser "V",,,,it's pretty cool, [3] AAA
batteries, and with "my"'TAX-#' it cost $42.17

Lots of mag lights, all sizes. A couple mil angle flashes. I surefire g2, 1 scorpion. Assorted brinkman, everready. Went to wally-mart yesterday, found a L.E.D. upgrade kit for AA mini maglite. Made by Nite Ize, 3 led bulbs, 4 times the battery life, and 100,000!! hours of continous use bulb life. WELL worth the 4.95 price. Not as bright as regular mini-mag, but you shouldn't ever have to replace the bulb , which might be a problem in some situations. And still doubles as a candle by unscrewing lense cone and inserting base in cone. Does anyone know if they still make a replacement pushbutton endcap for the mini maglight?
