Bubba Dundee?

Well it was bound to happen.

I go in and pick up my Ruskie M-44 and while waiting I start eye-balling this bubba'ed Mk III Enfield on the used gun rack.

Had the requisit chopped fore end and scraggly old leather sling.

I pick it up and notice it's a Lithgow made one.

Also has some deep grooves carved into the grip of the stock and down along the forend in a slightly curving pattern. Wear on stock shows this must have been down some time back....hmmmmmmm.
I inquired about the guns past and learned the previous owner may have bought the rifle in Australia sometime ago; so who knows.

Long story short it's on lay away. So what do I do with it?

If its just the stock thats messed up, how about trying to restore it. I would love to have a project like that. But then you have to shoot it first and give us a range report.

That would be awesome. Id so copy that idea if it worked, but do it in 6mm PPC. That and some nice optics and an upgraded barrel would be insane.

I think you know what I would vote. . .restore the thing.

The stocks aren't that expensive, nor are the bands, etc. Check out Numrich Gun Parts for starters. You can get stock sets and stuff cheaper if you're willing to look and go through some auctions.

One of my shooting buddys bought a pre-butchered No4Mk1 for $50 including scope. The former owner swiss cheesed the left side of the receiver trying to put on the side mount. Then he butchered the metal and hacked up the stock trying to sporterize it. I wanted that rifle badly but restoration was impossible. My friend sold it for $75. So sad.

Certain vague, undefines, certainly not personally pointed out people are showing their ignorance again.

Anyone who's worked on milsurps, especially that order teh 5-for-some unGodly low price u-fix-ems, or has restored a bubba gun, or bought one as a cheap parts source will have parts laying around, they don't have to steal them. Only losers have to steal to have anything, everyone else just has a job. Some people are even friendly and share what they have extra of with others. Imagine that. It's called being a decent human being. Some people should try it some time.

and I will accept your appology when he tells your sorry A$$ that he gets all his Enfield parts from ME!!! and he sends all his milsurps to ME to fix!!! I find it INFURIATING that I am being called a thief by a halfwit failure of a fellon!!

Now for the rest of you who might wish to know where my parts come from. I have 3 sources.
1. In Australia their draconian gun legislation has lead to the destruction ofthousands of military rifles I have several contacts that strip them before the recievers are crushed.
2. I have contacts in England who obtain hard to find Enfield parts. (I rebuilt a Lee Metford MKII* from a stripped reciever this way)

3. I purchased a large quantity of DP (Drill Purpose) rifles from Egypt that I use as parts donors.

Enfields are one of my many passions, I before my sons health problems had the largest collection of rare enfields in the midwest, but alas I am down to a few REALLY nice pieces and many parts.

Gee whiz Andy!! Dale didn't get a call from you today!! I wonder why that might be?

Possibilities
A. You cant afford the call (Call collect, he said it's OK)
B. were too busy on your site. (Not likely as I only saw about 2 posts today there)
C. You know that You are wrong and don't want to prove it.
D. You are too much of a coward to admit that I know more about weapons, milsurps especially, than you do, so you won't confirm it, as it would crush your little Gun God Fantasy.

E. You know that if you did call, Dale would tell you where to head out as I have never lied about guns as I do not need to and what I say and do can be proven by evidence or witnesses.
