A few weeks ago I did some trading and as part of I ordered another K-31 to replace the last one I had.

Well this one had a great bore was an excellent shooter but the finish on the wood and metal left much to be desired.
Bunch of light to medium surface rust and the wood looked like a golf-ball with all the small dings in it but no serious gouges on the stock like many have.

So.......I decided to refinish it. Nothing too fancy as it will be more than just a Range Queen. I'll be packing this as my Jeep rifle or one of. :dgrin:

I went and parkerized the action but left the bolt assembly, trigger group, sights and butt plate alone.

The stock was done in a semi flat finish 100 grit and then steel wool and them linseed oil applied. Which I'll keep rubbing it over time.

Here's a few pics of her now.

Yeah sure. You just wanted an excuse to rub some oil on a Swiss Miss. . .:D

Your rifle looks great! Have you found a place to get reasonably priced 7.5 Swiss ammo?

Thanks Rika, The ammo around here is hard to get but one place does stock it $32 for 60rds

Right now I'm debating whether or not to go ahead and have it rechambered for .308win.,.

I also have some Millet Tikka type rings on order to go with the mount I acquired for it.

Thanks,

That's another thing I like about K-31's besides their outstanding accuracy is their clean lines.

Anybody have an idea of how much it costs to have one rechambered to 308?

Well because the barrel needs to be set back and then rechamered I think around $120-150.

$120 - $150 isn't bad to have a neat accurate rifle in a readily available caliber. I always liked the K31 but was put off by the ammo cost.

Have you checked AIM? They have it for $23/60.

Flinter- Good source for the stuff thanks and after checking on some other things I decided to keep it 7.5x55, least for the near future.

I got enough .308 rifles as is anyways.

So instead, I used the difference still owed me in trading and took home a stainless Ruger 77/22 today.
