Half a dozen of us are taking a couple dozen teenagers camping/shooting/backpacking/canoeing for three days in north Arkansas starting tomorrow. Don’t know what the others are bringing to share, but I went through my gear last night:

-CAR-15’s (2)
-Loaded AR magazines (18)
-Extra .223/5.56 ammo (one can)
-Ciener .22 unit with 10- and 30-round mags
-.22LR subsonics (one brick)
-.22LR high-velocity (one brick)
-
-MAK-90
-Loaded AK magazines (11)
-Extra 7.62x39 ammo (one can)
-
-.454 Casull
-.454 / .45LC ammo (one can)
-
-Glock 19
-Loaded glock mags (14)
-Extra 9mm ammo 200 rounds
-M3 light for glock
-
-Smith 681
-Speedloaders (7)
-.38 spl reloads (one can)
-.357 mag ‘normal’ loads (100)
-.357 mag ‘rifle’ handloads (large fireball from handgun - 50)

I may or may not take my .357 levergun and my son's .223 single-shot (he's going as well); haven't decided yet, but they might be handy enticements for those teenagers uncomfortable with "assault weapons".

There’ll be skeet shooting as well, but I’m no help with that; my only shotgun is an 18” pump. I talked to the manager of the local grocery store, and he told me I could come by & pick up some of their cull produce. (A light .45LC “cowboy load” RNL into a watermelon, followed by a .454 right after should make an impression on the teenagers.)

I bet we’ll have more fun at this church outing than you had at your last one...

Sounds cool, have a good time. Our church's mens meeting has been trying to put together something like this for a while, but plans keep falling through. Also, I've been asked if my wife and I would be willing to take the church ladies out to teach them to shoot, once again with something always coming up. One of these days.....

Reminds me of a time when a neighbor invited my wife and I out to a movie, since her husband was out of town & she was taking her teenage daughter alone. My wife was busy & couldn’t make it, but suggested I go. That day, my wife called me to remind me to meet Cindy at the theater that night.

When I hung up, a guy at work asked me what we the call was about, and I told him the truth; it was my wife, reminding me that I had a date with another woman that night. :smokin:

I bet that got a strange from him. :dgrin:

And have fun over there. Buffalo River area by chance? Or Mulberry maybe?

Mountain View area. Private property, 1100-acre ranch. No river, but a lake for canoeing.

Just read my list above. Forgot the AR suppressor, but naturally it's going along for the trip... ;)

Good area up that way also.

One cool place is Hurricane Creek Wilderness Area has a nice over hanging bluff to camp under good swimming holes and if if you want to float the Big Piney River is nearby.
The Hurricane Creek tends to have too many shoals and islands for good floating.

Sounds like its gonna be a great weekend.

Out of curiosity what kind of supressor do you use?

From Ciener late last year after the ban ended. Actually, I'm not all that keen on the 30-rounder for the .22 unit. My gun's semi-auto only, and the long magazine's more susceptible to damage than the ten-rounder, so ten-rounders would be quite a bit more practical. (But the kids liked the thirty this weekend. :uzi: )

After all was packed up for the trip home, I checked with a couple other guys who'd brought stuff. Turns out we went through over 6,000 rounds between us; probably half of that .22LR.

No serious injuries, but one teenager learned the value of Krazy Glue when he cut himself on his shiny new knife. ;)

I think I sold Ruger a couple of .454's as well. There were some adults grinning like idiots when they touched it off, and I suspect they'll be shopping for their own soon.

Thanks John. I'm glad that you had a great time. Nothing like being out in the woods and lakes with people that you like.

Advanced Armament M4-2000. It works very well, and I really like its quick-attach mount. And believe them when they talk about how hot suppressors get. We melted part of a plastic table top on Friday when the suppressor got set down on it for a couple seconds.
