I've been using a "holster" for my sunglasses for the past couple years from Outdoor Products and it has been working great, but seeing some of knife sheaths made by Mrostov got me to thinking about how easy this would be to make out of: PVC Pipe, Wool Sock, M-16 magpouch.

What the holster I have is, is basically a rigid plastic sleeve enclosed in thick fabric inside a pouch. The inner sleeve is roughly 1 1/2 inches by 3 inches, with a belt loop on back and a secured pouch.

If you took some PVC pipe and cut it down to fit into an M-16 magpouch, and then wrapped the PVC in a thick sock, you'd have pretty much the same thing. This would give you a "bombproof" place to keep your glasses while in the field, and with a magpouch would have more places to carry it due to the ALICE clips.

Being one of the 4 eyed clan, I usually wear my regular lenses into the field, and then wind up having to change to sunglasses once the sun comes up, and having a real strong place to secure the glasses where they won't be crushed is great to avoid trying to find your way home, in the dark, through the woods, with a full game bag, half a pack of cigarettes and wearing sunglasses......

Just to clarify - the sock is inserted into the PVC pipe to cushion the glasses. Any excess would be great to keep the pipe from banging around too much in the pouch, plus you could still keep some smaller items in it.

Thats a good idea though I just store my extra glasses in the hard case that they came in. Never had any trouble.
