I am currently gathering some info on hunting the James River herd in Northern Quebec. This has been a dream I have had for some time. Lucky for me I have a friend that was a bush pilot ( He is now LE). Transport should not be a problem plus he is a hunter. This would be a bare bones no outfitter type fly in hunt. Bring your own gear bring your own grub so on and so forth. This would make the flight in and out the most expensive part. It would cost about 2000-3000 Canadian for a full week ( rough estimate for now) Some of the guys who work for me say I am crazy to be willing to spend that much cash on a hunt like that. I say I am crazy but I will go to the grave having lived out the better part of what I have always dreamed of doing.
I have the following left to do to finish what I have always wanted to take since I was a kid. Elk ,Blacktail Deer, Black bear, Brown bear, Woods Bison and Caribou. At 36 I have a lot of years left and now am settled enough to be able to do it. Had I not stumbled on this site I would have not gotten the bug again. Just the time out in the field is reward enough bagging any game I may go after is only a plus.
Go for it Hipster. You willo never miss the money in a few years and you will have treasured memories for the rest of your life.

Oops screw up on my part I was looking at the map for two areas James bay and George river and after a few Scotches it became James river. Sorry for the confusion. I have found a winter hunt with full guide service flight in food and so forth for 1200 Usd ( less than 1500 Cdn) There are some minor set backs though. Limited to 60 pounds of total gear, have to fly to an airport in the middle of the boonies ( 1000-1200 Cdn) and the average winter temp is below minus 30. I don't mind the cold that much but I do know one of the boys will cry bitch and moan about it. Sucess rate with this outfitter is near 100% for a decade. You cant beat 1 guide per 2 hunters or having skidoos as part of the fee. Get this they only charge and additonal 30 usd each to fly out your Bou. They skin and cut ( bone out ) the caribou as part of the hunt fee. That is also 2 tags for the 1200 us bucks. No promises of course but that is to be expected when hunting any game. Too good to be true? might be but we have time to get more info.

Roger that I could not give a **** what the boy's at work think but I do get a good laugh after I tell them going price for a guided Montana elk hunt. Too bad they are missing out on what could be some of the best most peacefull and remembered times in thier lives. When you worry tank gets full what do you have left? Well on a brighter note I got an email from one of my hunting buddies today. The sob just bought a brand spanking new Z71 4 door he sure has it all figured out. Just right for four guys with gear and a trailer behind for quads.
