“Paul's knowledge of this system is virtually unlimited, and I learned a number of things I'm going to steal from him. His handling repertoire is smooth and efficient, and, like me, he is a staunch advocate of hot ranges. The vaunted Kalashnikov System will be with us for a long time, and all need to be familiar with it.” –John Farnam

This fast paced 1-day class concentrates on the use of semi-automatic versions of the Avtomat Kalashnikova in the close range arena typical of civilian defensive scenarios. The emphasis is on quick threat engagement from the standing position, plus the use of alternate firing positions for taking advantage of cover. Topics covered include tactical ready positions, weapon retention, transitioning to a handgun, semi-auto speed shooting, and engagement of single and multiple targets at various distances.

Taught by OPS Chief Instructor Paul Gomez, Urban AK is the class for every person who owns an AK variant and is interested in its effective and responsible use.

quick use of AK requires that you stupidly leave that stupidly awkward safety disengaged. Either that, or you waste an entire second that the enemy can use to kill ya. Funny how guy with knife is "sure" to kill you at 10 ft, , when he needs 1 second to get to you, but you can use a slow assed ak against guys with GUNS, aint it?

Nonsense. You flip the lever down with the extended fingers of your right hand as you raise the rifle. If you're a lefty, you have to modify your manual of arms to chop the thing down with your right hand. Either way, it doesnt take a second.

You can always run around with the safety disengaged if your trigger discipline is good. Its not exactly a hair trigger.

the hell it doesn't. You aint even GOT an electronic shooting timer. ANY unnecessary lost time, in a gun fight, is so stupid that only a lame like you would claim that it doesn't matter. You don't even know what speed of handling IS with a rifle, obviously. TRY making .85 second react, raise from low ready, hits on 10" at 10 yds, average of 5 tries, with an AK, as can be done with an AR.

Can and have, thanks. A rightie in low ready gets the gun up and on target in about the same time as the guy with the AR. Can't answer for the lefties, as I'm not one. :p

BTW..I've got a timer coming, and some 3 gun matches coming up in Anniston, AL . I'm afraid you'll need to find a new drum to bang on after that. :nyah:
