My previous post , I mentioned that I replaced Longbranch stocks from a Maltby ,
that I recently purchased.
I had just ~happened~ to have a stock set for the Maltby .....


1944 No.4 Mk1 Maltby,
FTR'd by BSA Shirley factory (no date),
Unissued Beech stocks , "L"ong length butt,
BSA micrometer rearsight,
notta scratch

Thats mighty handsome wood on your rifle. I'll bet that the long length butt makes it comfortable to shoot too.

Funny thing is, short butt lengths are actually more comfortable to shoot than longer ones and easier to control once you get used to them. Not to mention they're a hell of a lot easier to mount when wearing heavy clothing.

Magnum, I will agree with you in principle. However it depends on just how short the stock is. Its much easier to cut a long stock than lengthen a shorter one. In the case of the LE, you just substitute a shorter/longer stock to fit your body and what you are wearing.
