I read some time that a doctor... perhaps Dr. Weil... would ask his patients what they think is wrong with them, or rather what the cause of their malady was and he had many very interesting answers from which he could tell a lot about a person's psyche.

I think that this has further implications in everyday life when one is presented with an opinion regarding an observed phenomenon.. When a cause is given to you regarding an action someone both noticed AND decided to tell you about, this should be carefully considered...

Sometimes people would come in with chest irritation and when asked would say "I probably smoke too much" or with a headache "I recently did yardwork and have allergies."

(i wonder how often doctors worrry about being manipulated)

(i wonder how often people offer obscure observations purely FOr purposes OF obfuscation)
