Didn't really do a lot except to refinish with a little stain and about 8 coats of tung oil.

Copycat; I've been meaning to do that with my two MKIII*'s. What did you use to remove the old finish? I used mineral oil on my Mauser's and "sweated" them and then used BLO. They look all right, but I could have done better.

I used steel wool and a little alchohol, although I've got to admit there wasn't much finish on the wood, mostly dirt. Very lightly sanded to take out some of the worst dents one coat of stain and then the tung oil.

It's amazing just how much gunk those things can attract-& just how well they clean up!
