Between the USO and the Leupold im just full of glass questions today it seems.

As some of you know, I have a VX-II that I hate so much I threw it on my airsoft gun. Ive been thinking lately of giving it a second chance at real projectiles. Mabye Im just a softie.

Here is what would need to be done:

#1 The Ultra-Fine Duplex has got to go. Just cant work with it. If Im not mistaken Leupold does reticle changes, but I do not know if theyll help me put a mil dot on this thing. Have its internals checked while its there. Will Custom Shop put it on or am I going to be in for a hard time?

#2 Id be putting on Thumb Turrets, most likely DL Speed Turrets.

#3 Id throw a 2.5" sunshade on the front of it.

Anyone think the its worth the ~$400 investment? Id probably get some ARMS throw levers for it as well (another $110). Itd fit the only reason I have for even carring: backup/friend x with unscoped rifle whos sharing it/that aimpoint isnt going to cut it this time so throw this on there and sight it in ASAP kind of stuff. Its 3.5-9x so the versatility is there for it.

Worth my time of day or no? Any recomendations?

Why not give Leupold a call and get a price.

is it worth putting custom wheels on your truck or car. you already have money tied up in it, it is a realitively good scope to begin with, so instead of loosing mony on it and buying another. upgrading it sounds like the smart thing to do. i don't replace a rifle if it don't do what i want, i fix it until it does.LOL

Ok, Ive deduced my costs:

Mil-Dot Reticle/Service: $140
Alumina Threading: $45
Alumina 2 1/2" Sunshade: $25
Leupold Medium QRW (fast detach) rings: $65

Im not sure on the turret yet. I need to call D&L when Im absolutly ready to put em in and see if their stuff is VX-II compatible; the last thing I want is stoney point knobs but thats my "last line" idea. Any advice on ridding myself of these hunting flat-head only manipulation turrets is welcome. Im going to send the scope for the reticle and threading when I have the money; then do the turrets myself and put on the sunshade whenever I get around to it.

This should allow me to have: a backup for the LRPT, a backup for Alex's SKS (when he gets mounts for it), a long range set up for Dustin's AR-15 to give him when he needs it, and a scope for the carcano-gone-mad project; just dial in with 3-4 shots and it can suffice; mabye put a range tape ring on it and write the general weapon sight-in data on it using the scopes absolute zeros as the starting point, or maybe colored dots on the turrets. I can also throw it on my airsoft gun and practice mildot ranging continuously. The mil dot idea is important, Ive been spoiled to the bone with my horus reticle and USO scope.

DW, check out Premier Reticles. They do Leupold scopes and are highly regarded.
