I'm thinking about getting one of these Gerber LMF II ASEK knives:
http://www.botac.com/gerberlmfii.html
(There's also a Gerber LMF II Infantry that appears to be very similar, not sure how it's different)
Does any one have one? Used one? Played with one?
Or just knows alot about knives generally.
Anything to give an opinion of it.
Good, Bad, Medium?

I might be going up by AG Russell's in a day or 2 I'll see if he's got one I can look at.

It's tough to tell how well it's going to feel in your hand when using, so... going from that point...
Equipped.org said the difference is that the ASEK has a shroud/seatbelt cutter. (it's on the bottom left of the overall pic on Botach).
The steel it's made from is OK if you prefer stainless.
Anyways, check out these two links that have decent reviews:

Is $75 the limit of your budget? You can do better than this knife, but it might do everything you want it, depending on what you have in mind.

For now yes that's the limit... I tend to start cheaper and work my way up (yes, I'm aware that this has it's disadvantages)
But for future reference what would you recommend?
And thanks for the links.
FWIW I like the Cold Steel SRK and the Ontario RAT-7 for a big knife. The Hattori Bird and Fish makes a great 4" knife for general purpose.

I suppose I should note that I always carry with me my Buck 110 (only time it's off preety much is Airports or Federal Buildings)
I also have a Buck 119, which spends most of it's time sitting on my desk and looking preety; I don't rekon it's legal for me to walk around with it on my belt.
(BTW as far as I know both Bucks are 420HC steel)
I suppose I'm not really 100% sure what I'm looking for in a knife, but I have this gut feeling that there will be a moment where I'll kicking my self for not having anything but a pocket knife (or a few)

For the future, if you like stainless, a Strider. If non-stainless is OK, a Mad Dog. Mad Dogs are actually O1 coated with chrome, so they are technically good at resisting rust but still require more maintenance than stainless.
Those two companies sell blades that approach the high upper limit of what I'd spend on a true working knife... obviously there are some that cost more, but they usually fall into the realm of artsy, non-users.
