View Full Version : RIKA's Stiff Kiss
Continuation of my GS thread but in proper forum.
Later this morning I stopped at my 5th garage sale and this was a multiple family whopper. Very large crowd so I had to park halfway down the block. People were pushing, shoving and generally acting nasty. Couldn't see anything I wanted so I left. As I approached the car I spotted something just in front of the left front tire that I had almost run over.
It was a little knife! I've never seen one like it before. Its made by CRK&T and the name "Stiff Kiss" is etched on the tanto style blade. It has a neat little fitted kydex sheath too.
Problem is, I can't figure out what to do with it. Its too large for a neck knife or a pocket knife but it has a really good feel in the hand.
Any suggestions as to how I might carry it on my person? I've included photos along with a box of Makarov cartridges so you can see the size.
Thanks
RIKA :)

Nice find!
Not sure on carry looks like it has belt loops.
Does the sheath have a clip on the opposite side?
Could just put it back for a SHTF backup knife on a trouser belt.
Thank you. The loops are only 1 inch with no attachment clip. Maybe I can rig up a belt clip of some kind.

I have one - great little knife.
The handle is actually set up to accommodate para cord. (it originally came with some - at least mine did.)
I used to keep it on my radio pouch ( before I changed radios and got a throat mike)
right now, its just one of several knifes I keep in a small pouch in my hunting/patrol pack.
Aslan, what kind of radio do you use? Can you provide a photo of how the paracord is wrapped on the handle.
Thank you.

Currently I use the following radios:
king kx-99 for ground to air (I need to replace it as it is bulky and heavy, but it works like a champ)
and a Garmin Rino 120 for basic stuff. But it has an integrated GPS.
Aslan, thank you for the photo and the radio info. I have some paracord and will try a wrap like yours.

Rika;you may want to consider "sewing" the sheath into a garment.I was kinda thinking of doing that with the pushknife in either a denim jacket,or a leather vest I have around the house somewhere.Or maybe some carpenters pants with the tool pockets.Damn, now you all got me thinking.
Good idea Gripper. I wear jackets a lot so maybe a little sewed in pocket that I could clip the sheath into.

As Davy Crockett said to Jim Bowie when Bowie showed him his bowie knife "You could tickle a man's ribs with that for a long time before you made him laugh!"
Up a sleeve, down your back (necklace style) in a boot, in the armpit (on the arm itself). Lots of places to carry it, just don't think it amounts to much when you've got it in hand. It's still just a little knife, regardless of how 'nice" a little knife.

Don't underestimate it's utility. The one I have is capable of inflicting a lot of damage. A knife doesn't have to be big to be useful. Most tissue, including the skin is elastic. a mere 1/4" blade can do an amazing amount of harm.
This knife has a 3.5" blade. Plenty long enough for fighting.

Rika - I have a little drill for you to do.
Hang a cloth bag, bundle of rags, something you don't care about so that it is about shoulder height. Make sure it is clear of any walls (trees if outside), etc. and that you can move completely around it if desired.
Take your stiff kiss and hold it earth blade. (blade facing down, sharp edge facing outward. Blade end should be closest to your little finger)
Holding the knife practice punching at the bag and hitting it with your fist. Then start missing it with your fist but hitting it with the blade of the knife.
As you bring your fist back after the punch, make sure the knife is stabbing into the bag.
Then holding the knife the same way, practice making figure eight movements with the edge of the knife striking the bag.
Practice moving and doing these simple things.
let me know what you think would happen in a fist fight.
For giggles throw a punch with the other hand once in a while.
This is just a little exercise, doing this doesn't make anyone a super ninja with +10 knife skills.
I'll try to set something up in the next couple of days.

Good time to work on grip strength,Rika.BTW, although I prefer larger blades and different grips;properly applied short blade work is devastating.Hey;you can't always tote a barong,or a kukhri.

Kind of a follow up;as far as small blades for neck carry or other concealment;I kind of like my Cold Steel Spike...CRKT Plan B is a good one too(despite my distaste for the sheath).
Spike got an edge? If not, it's a VERY poor choice. About all a knife CAN do is cut, so if you reduce it to being nothing more than an icepick, it's very, very ineffective.

Yes Andy, my spike (Yanto point ) has an edge. There is kind od a flat V grind to it,very broad spine tapering to a goo dedge. I am not certain I could easily re-sharpen it;but I've had it for years withoutlosing the factory edge. The handle seems kind of skimpy at first;but it seems to suit me for outboard, what Aslan calls "Earth Balde",Pikal(edge in)and point forward grips.Got a 4 inch blade, does not take up too much space. I'm a skinny ,wiry sort;but so fsar no one has made me;so I'd say it does not print with most of my casual and working clothing.Oh,yeah, and you can still use the handle as a fist load or hammer fist type impact tool.

About all a knife CAN do is cut
Umm, maybe, depends on the knife. Cuts can be a lot more problematic than gunshots. Lengthwise cuts of major blood vessels are incredibly difficult to treat, far more so than a gunshot or a lateral cut of same.
Multiple cuts can bleed out faster than a gun shot. Multiple cuts means a lot of tissue destruction. Multiple cuts means greater chance of infection.
Yes, all a knife can do is cut, stab, block other weapons, - oops that's more than just cut.
Oh well, you get the general idea.

Plus a sharp knife can easily destroy major muscles and tendons...

I have only seen those a few times, I just assumed the sheeth that you have is made to be attached under desk/cabinet/dash board etc.
I saw one rivited to something on an army belt once, the rest were right here.
I just picked up a new folding knife, it comes out real quick and ya just flip it and a stout 3 1/4" blade flips out and locks.
I pack it kinda for defence, hope I never have to use it. I got a bad arm right now. :headbang:
