I have a question about a Hopkins & Allen revolver I acquired recently. It is nickel plated and has a solid frame with hard rubber grips. It is a 5 shot 38 S&W with no caliber markings. It loads through a gap in the shield. It has a hammer. It has a 2 ½ inch octagon barrel. On the top strap it is marked:

DOUBLE ACTION No 6
HOPKINS & ALLEN ARMS CO.
NORWICH, CONN. U.S.A.

On bottom of the grip strap is the number 728.

It is not an XL model

I want to use it as a pocket pistol in Cowboy Action Shooting side matches. To meet the rules the gun needs to be a “pre-1900 design.” It can be manufactured after 1900, the design just needs to have been before 1900. Can anyone tell me if this revolver meets the rule? - Thanks

Unfortunately i live in a town next to norwich , ct. but it does have a firearm history deeper than any other city in the U.S.A.. Try www.gun-data.com/suicide_specials.htm , or www.cowboyactionshooting.com for an answer.
