i apoligize for not locating another forum to make a hello post in, but since this is the area that i figure ill spend the majority of time watching and reading, i thought id say hello here. i hope ill be forgiven if i have made a mistake.

so far ive gone back thru all 58 pages over the past several days and did ALOT of reading, kind of trying to get a feel for the place... i typically agree with most folks here on their thoughts and feelings... there are exceptions to that though. no offense intended. from my reading i have gotten a small "feel" for some of you thru your posts and comments, and im happy to be amongst you. i have learned from you just by reading past threads, and it is VERY obvious that there are some people here who know wtf they are talking about. (and there are the occasional that have a tendency to just try and sound like they do, again no offense) like i said, im very happy to be amongst you all for as long as i am permitted to visit.

survival and preparedness has been an interest of mine for many years now, ive done alot of reading, i love to read so that helps, and have tried to put into practice what i have read where i can. somethings are just impractical and not feasable for me at this point in time though, and i am working twords a more viable position to help ensure my own survival and those that i care about and love. that being said, just so no one reads anything into that, it also means staying on the LEGAL side of things, since others survival is dependant upon me not being incarcerated somewhere for something stupid. no fancy gee wizz bang go anywhere do anything magic AR's for me, just a plain jane box stock Ruger Mini-14 and an M1 Garand for semi-auto centerfire rifles as i live in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia.

my interests and thoughts on survival and preparedness extend beyond firearms, and into desires to live a semi self-sufficient lifestyle in town. not an easy choice, and not a very secure one, but for the time being its the best ive got to work for. i understand that firearms are simply tools, just like a garden ho, a pruning saw, ax, ratchet, book, skillet, or the mind locked away inside a persons skull. one step at a time i hope to accomplish my goal while in this state, and eventually move out of here and life somewhere that isnt quite as screwed up. i will miss the state, the land, trees, ocean, mountains, etc, but NOT the people or the way they think and things are done. one day at a time though as funds and abilities permit.

anyhows, thats alittle about me, if its vauge i apoligize, something youd like to know, just ask, ive got no real secrets. just dont ask me for my home address, my SN, a CC number, mothers maiden name, my full name, or anything silly like that.. this is after all the internet, land of identity theft, scam artists and wacko's/undesirables. a man has to remain concious of his limited amounts of privacy and protect himself from those he or she doesnt wish to have show up on their doorstep. no offense intended once again, but im sure the majority of you know what im trying to say.

nice to meet you all...
Urban Hillbilly

p.s. sorry for some of the wording, and the fancier words, sometimes i use more proper words than others, sometimes more intelligent, but most the time i just talk, except when im trying to convey something, so i hope i dont seem off the wall.

Welcome aboard!

I guess I really should put something like a Welcoming room or such on this forum. Might make it easier for new members to try to break the ice and introduce themselves to the members already here.

I guess when I get a "round tuit", I'll do that.........

LOL, and here I always thought the M1 was a go-anywhere, do-anything rifle. . .

Rich if you really want a "round tuit" there is probly a couple of them around here somewhere. i can ask for ya if you like... 'cause once you get a round tuit, you can finally get around to doing all those things that you said youd do when you got around to it'.. or something to that effect.
