Just wondering how accurate is your M24/47, last night I was shooting with my son, at 150 yds I shoot the top off of a metal "T" post (maybe an 1 1/2 wide) on the first shot, even after 60 rounds nearly ever round was within a 10 inch circle. I still have a good bit of trouble getting the yugo surplus to ignite, but the romanian ammo (an new manufacture) works perfectly. This Mauser has become my favorite rifle, and thats good because I was going broke buying ammo for my enfield (although I still like to shoot it).

At 100 yards, (the length of my range) I can get 3" to 5" groups with Yugoslavian sometime a little tighter with Turkish stuff. The Yugoslavian batch of ammuntion I'm shooting now gives me about one misfire in 25 - 30 rounds, better than the last batch which was about one in ten. A second hit alway's fires them, though. You might want to try some of the Turkish stuff, but I'll warn you, it's hotter. Since your getting good groups at 150 yards, I would say the old Mauser is doing it's job and so are you. On another forum 8" groups at 100 yards were found to be quite acceptable. Have fun.

Well I must have been having a really good day the other day, we (my son and I) went out and shoot a bunch yesterday and I just couldn't seem to duplicate the previous results, in all fairness it was a bit windy. Took the old gal completely down last night smoothed out the trigger sufaces, cleaned more cosmo out (does it ever end). Also straightened out the extractor a bit as it had a bow in it which bound up the action just a bit. Bolt seems to be smoother now.

Cosmoline grows like a fungus, I swear. I once gave an "excellent" SKS to my nephew for helping me clear some land. I took great pains to clean it free of cosmoline before I gave it to him. He was thrilled of course, so he immediately had to shoot it. First shot a thumbnail sized glob of cosmoline appeared from somewhere and smacked him in the face. It sounds like your having fun with your Mauser, don't worry about a little loss of accuracy, just blame the ammunition, that's what I alway's do. :)
