I might as well spill the beans, I was a Muzzleloader freak over there in the Muzzleload Forum, they had so many tech problems I come over here, well shucks, a week later I talked my self into an SKS, they don't like them over at the Muzzloader forum anyhow.
Now here's the worst part, for the very reasons I got into the Muzzleloader thing, I like the SKS better.
And so far , for the most part,,, I like the nuther dudes over here better.

I spend some time at the muzzleloader forum myself. Can't go by Flinter there.......some SOB already took the name. Actually, I think was me about 5 years ago. I just forgot the password and closed out the email account I used.

SKS's are a lot of fun. They are also very practical from a backwoodsman's standpoint. I know you had some issues with yours in the beginning, but they really are a take anywhere, handle any conditions with little care kind of rifle.

Glad to have you here FFG100grns.

Welcome fffg. A lot of us have ML as well as the modern stuff so we're always happy to talk.

The sks certainly makes more sense than a .30 AK or a clunker bolt action. It's still a low-$, doesn't amount to much sort of gun, but its lack of a detachable mag makes it a good choice in cities or states that have outlawed detachable mag autorifles. As the price of .30 ak ammo goes up, the AK is steadily losing its appeal. If you think in terms of needing more firepower than the sks offers, you have to start thinking in terms of the lighter wt, silencer,. .22 unit, GI rd mags, parts, greater accuracy, greater range, concealment, etc, of the CAR-15.
