Here's a large hand made bowie that was given to me for 10 years of participation in my county's militia.
It was made by one of the members who happens to be one of the charter founders of the group.
Hard to get a perspective of the size of the knife with some other photos I had taken. So I have my 1911next to it for size reference.
Please excuse the image, my camera always wants to digitalize matte surfaces for some reason.
Awesome knife. What does it weigh? Looks like the blade is about a foot long.

Rika- You're very close the balde is 13".
I have not weighed it yet but my best guess is around 2 to 2-1/2 pounds.

"That's not a noif... THAT'S a noif..." ;)
If you're looking for a sheath, have you considered a golf bag? :nyah:

Considering the cost of new leather of any decent thickness these days. Finding an old leather golf bag at a good will store to make a sheath from might not be a bad idea. :dgrin:

Hey BigED63 If you can find a tannery out there you might find some leather cheep. I buy from these guys, I got a thick peice for my new Bible, it would be big enough for that knife, cost about $17.00. Nice knife you got.

Y'know, that is a good idea; it's been a pain finding leather since the Tandy in Little Rock closed down. I never thought of that.

Very nice, BigEd63. You could probably cut a tree with it. And as a last resource, a bear would probably come to see the wrongness of its ways once proper introductions were performed.
Your friends must appreciate you. Good for you.

We would call that a pig sticker down here. I am inclined to call it a sword or machete. Either way, nice blade.
