I recentl bought a 1300 defender used (with a fair share of issues) and its standard sight system has been removed. There's still the copper bead underneath, but I'm thinking I'd like something a little better. Is there any advice? I've been told that accessories for this particular gun can be very hard to find. A local shop has a sale on red dot scopes, but I'm a little suspicious as they are only $50 and seem to have rings to mount with (I thought they used rails) I know very little about optics (outside of my binoculars and spotting scope) and am curious as to whether I could feasibly mount one of these scopes or other sights that might work.
I've seen many shotguns with optics mounted on them; a red dot shouldn't be a problem. BTW many red dot sights come with rings.

Ahh, so I could mount it with those rings. Sounds neat, but I guess I'll have to wait a while to try them out. Need a proper shotgun first.

The only thing I changed on my 1300 is the front bead. I installed a larger blaze orange bead, makes it a lot easier (and faster) to see.
One of these days I'd like to put a set of ghost ring sights on it.
Pick up a Brownell's catalog.......they have a dozen different styles of sights for the Defender.

Brownells? Like the lovechild of browning and bushnell? I've never heard of them, but I'll certaintly look into it.
