Anyone have any experience with this sight? I'm about to purchase my first "black rifle" and want a good red dot without breaking the bank. I'm looking at the 4 MOA model.

I'm planning on mounting it on the carry-handle with an Aimpoint ARMS #16A base.

This will be a KISS rifle used for plinking that I expect to be a servicable self-defense rifle if need be.

Cbass, it's fine. The springs in the flip up caps poop out after a while, but the caps are easily replaced. The battery is not as common as say AA, but it will last years.

The unit is durable and parallax free. Aimpoint is a reputable company and their products work just like they promise.

I squirrel hunt with a ML2 on a .22LR. My typical squirrel conditions are dim light because the forest blocks out the late afternoon sun.

I've nothing to add other than to reaffirm GBullet's diagnosis is what I gathered when I researced this sight.

I decided to go with an Eotech instead, but that's because I was really wanting a redundant sight system and I felt the Eotech did that better.

Euclidean, did you mount the Eotech on a flat top?

Yes, right now it's just directly mounted to the upper receiver. I might consider a different mount, but I like the absolute cowitness and I really don't need a quick change mount on that rifle for any reason.

Most seem to prefer the lower third cowitness, guess I gotta be the weirdo.

Okay, I thought that's where you were going with that. The base is 'see through' but I'm not sure how well it will co-witness. The gun is a standard stock fixed-handle Bushmaster A2 16" carbine.

Lol! Well, I offered to let you try out my AR for awhile, but you and I got too busy. What if I told you I had one of these you could try out too?

Best,
Jon

Hey, Jon! You know where I work and you know about the merger. I have a job for 18 mos tops, it could end sooner. Like in a month or two at worst. So the purchase is on hold until someone offers me a job - my resume is out there and I've applied at four or five places locally so far. Hopefully I'll get a call soon so life can resume but I'm about to apply to four or five more places so I can hopefully end the waiting.

You are a true gent so bad it'd be funny to most considering how many pistols and rifles you've offered to lend me over the years. I've lost count! From Ruger pistols to high-end Ziess scoped jewels. I appreciate it all. I know you'd meet me downtown or somewhere and lend me whatever but I'd rather meet you at the range and burn some stress. Holler at me at work. Thanks bro.

A range session is DEFINITELY in order for me. I haven't been ... well, I'm embarassed to say exactly how long it has been, so we'll just say, "too long." The Aimpoint is atop the Brockman, and I have not sighted it in yet. Sounds like as good an excuse as any to go!

Best,
Jon

Well, I don't know what you consider breaking the bank as, but I fell in love with the EOTech 522 holographic sight. I've installed one on my M16 and several other rifles. I'm debating on putting one on one of my Ruger MkIII pistols as well.

The price is around $400 or so depending on where you get it.

Mike, $400 is OK. Honestly, I know less than ZERO about quality red dot sights. I picked the Aimpoint because the overall concensus seemed to be it's a good 'un but I'm open to suggestions. I'll look at it tonight. Thanks.

The purchase in on, I decided to buy it while I can. :) I'll order the gun Saturday.

Holler when you're going. This is sad, but when the Bushmaster arrives I will have three new purchases in the house that I've never fired.
