I was looking through a friend's Bud K knives catalog and found an as new, supposedly Russian bayonet. Has the curved tip, saw back, wire cutter, red Baeklite handle and a scabbard. It also came with a heavy duty 2 pocket AK mag pouch. A pretty good deal at just $14.95 + shipping. Had to do some very minor grinding to make it lock on but it looks good on the nice Yugo AK-47 I just bought. The Yugoslavians made great guns as my SKS and AK are proof of that. But they can't make good cars. The real Yugo bayonet is better made and better looking than others but try finding one. Anybody have a real Yugo bayo for their AKo?

Some of the Yugo's are packaged with a Yugo bayonet. Some aren't.

We were just in the gun store today and I do recall none of the AK's with metal stocks had bayonets and one of the wood stock guns did have bayonet.

My SKS Yugo has the Bayonet, My apprentices SKS Hugo has one and so does my nuther shootin buddies SKS(Yugo) ,, but his Chicom (s) got no bayonet, I don't recal if his Russian SKS has bayonet, he told me the Chicom ones you gotta take it off. I gotta plead stupid when it comes to AK's, I have shot them,

I use mine as a mono-pod, then to prevent the ramrod from getting lost I put a 3/32 wide ring of heat shrink around bbl and ram rod and that hold it in.
Thake slight effort to remove the ram rod.

fffg, I was just "brushing up" on the SkS FMI (for my information;)) and have this on putting a folder/collapser on your SkS:

How many imported parts can be replaced in an SKS Carbine?

Using commercially available parts, you can:

1) Replace the stock with aftermarket US-made version. {my edit: a US made folder/collapser or pistol gripped stock would still be "evil features" and require substitution of 1 or 2 more US made parts, I think...}

2) Replace the handguard with aftermarket US-made version.

3) Replace the gas piston with a US-made version from Tapco (#SKS6602), SKSMan or SKSParts (#SKS-034).

4) Replace the operating rod with the Tapco (#SKS6633) US-made version.

5) Replace the magazine with a 100% US-made magazine, including the magazine body, follower and floorplate.

6) On Yugoslavian Type 59/66 Carbines: Remove the grenade launcher and replace it with a US-made muzzle break (foreign muzzle attachments are counted). See the FAQ’s on removing the Yugoslavian Type M59/66 grenade launcher for more info.

After replacing these parts, how many parts are left?

Here are the ten parts you have left:

1) Receiver

2) Barrel

3) Bolt

4) Bolt carrier

5) Trigger housing

6) Trigger

7) Hammer

8) Sear

9) Disconnector, bolt follower

10) Disconnector, rebound [aka: trigger mount arm]

Removing bayos on a C&R, like an SkS is still a bit confusing even with this help: http://www.victorinc.com/SKS-FAQ.html#_Toc138675120

Basically the way I read it is, "If it's a chicom SkS, no bayo.".

Now if it's an AK kit built on an American rcvr all you have to do is keep your "evil features" to <10. For me, that's no bayo lug on my AK or my postban ARs, built before the sunset.

Now w/the sunset can you put "evil features" back on post ban ARs and use 30rnd imported "LEO only" marked mags on it? The answer on the mags is yes though I don't have the link for veracity right now.

Found a site with pix of the various countries' bayos and mine appears to be a Romanian, not Russian. Most others have a steel end piece with the push button. Not all have the sawback or wire cutter features, but most do.
Seems to be taking an edge. Wild looking blade, think I'll polish it (Nyuk!). The handle looks so crappy that a polished blade would distract the eye from the ugly grip.
