I got the e-mail notification about the M-1 Carbines that will be for sale through CMP, but to be honest I don't think this will be that great a deal. First reports are in the $600.00 range for Very Good condition. Seems a bit pricey when I bought two M-1 Garands for under $600.00 each just last year. The Carbine is a fine WWII collector piece and fun to shoot. The downside is ammunition is high priced and not that available for some reason. I've owned three carbines and sold them all, which is not usually me, but for whatever reason the M-1 Carbine didn't live up to it's press. I'll stick with the Garand's and SMLE's for WWII collecting.

Don't sell the carbines short, Terry. They're non-import marked and very collectible in very good condition. I have one thats discreetly marked beneath the surface of the wood stock and its a prize. I'll be getting another one when they are released. Last time I saw really ratty USGI carbines were selling for $800.00 plus. The CMP carbines will accrue in value also plus they're fun to shoot.

well, i've a inland that i don't plan on parting with, yet wouldn't miss-it[other than what it cost/with extras]
but the C.M.P. M-1 garands that are being offered are of interest,as i do regret parting with my first one,as it was a real-kick-ass SHOOTER!
IN FACT I'D ALMOST BE TEMPTED TO GRAB IT OVER MY C.E.T.M.E.
AFTER it's rather poor performance it turned in today[although in it's DEFENSE
those magazines had been loaded w/18 rds since november 04, and i did scrub/strip/clean-it a good one tonite]

and WHILE I'M ON A "rant/tear" the C.E.T.M.E. is head/shoulders over a slidin'stocked .223 bushmaster off-hand @150 yards!!!,,,ANYDAY!,,AND I GOT $100 BILL TO BACK MY MOUTH! :dgrin:

The carbines are fine pieces of history and plenty of WWII and Korean vet's swore by them. With six million of them made, however, I think the prices are a bit much. Feeding frenzy maybe? At any rate I'm glad to see CMP releasing them. They are one fine outfit and I'm glad I jumped through the hoops to buy from them.
