Well after deciding I needed a Illuminated reticle scope that had soe sort of mil-dot system and the failure of Millet to literally deliver I decided to move up the price ladder. And I hope quality one also.

My scope choices over the years have been mostly between Leupold and Burris depending on their uses. Back when mil-dot scopes started appearing on the civillian market I had mainly stuck with Leupold in that regard.

And frankly when Burris ceased to be a relativly small "family owned" company I had shied away from them. Even more so when thay started to come out with some very colorful to say the least scope finishes and gimmicky "light collector" adjustable objectives.

So to shorten it up during the last week or so of waiting for my "2-Week" Millet to show I up I started looking over other choices.
And found this one:

Burris XTR Tactical 3x-12x50mm ,Illuminated Ballistic Mildot Retical, OD Anodized finish. The pic shows the non-Illukinated model, only difference is the other has a control ring mounted together with the side focus ring.

I checked out the XTR at Midway and reviews were positive except for nit-picky. It sounds like an excellent scope. If you ordered it from Midway you should have it by tomorrow or Friday. Looking forward to your review.

Rika- This one is going to be awhile before I get it.
I ordered it through the same shop I was supposed to get the Millet from. As I did some trading with them for the Millet and it was Millet who couldn't come through with the product. So it will probably get here early next week.
Will also be awhile before I get the Burris as I have to wait for my next payday to pay out the difference.

However I will give it a wringing over as soon as I get it in my hands. :)

It arrived today and I went over to pick it up.

While at the shop I wanted to check out the Illuminated reticle so I installed the battery that came with it. Zip nada no light up at all.
The battery is a Rayovac, not my first choice of brands :;puke02: , so I run over to the nearest store that stocks batteries and picked up a Energizer(I know high priced Rayovac  ) brand if the same kind.
Get back to the gunshop and still nada nothing. :headbang: The gunsmith there will be looking it over and if he can't find something I missed it's going back to either the wholesaler or Burris.
The wholesaler was already called and they said they will be glad to exchange but they don't have the OD Green one in stock, oh well I'm not that hung up on the OD color once I saw it in person.
Still sucks that the main reason I went to this was the Illuminated Reticle.

OOOOOOOooo...Kkkkkkkkkk.........

Sometimes it's nice if a company would include a note on what needs to be removed before installing a battery.

There happens to be a nice big rubber washer looking cushion in place in the battery compartment to keep the copper spring on the cap from coming loose when there is not a battery installed.

Nice feature but it's so well fitting it looks like it needs to be there. My bad. :dunce:

Well the gunsmith removed it, put in the battery and tried the illuminator. Least ways I wouldn't have been the one to fry my scope :dgrin: .

So it's working fine from my last call to the shop whilst I'm here on break.

sounds nice, but let us know how it handles recoil from a .308, i'm looking for some new optics myself

Oh I will, weather permitting I should have it dialed in this weekend. At least at 100yds.

Works just as well with the Med Warne rings as did the Leupold.

Now if things go well it'll be range time Sat Morning. :)

Late Range report.

Got in only a hrs time at the range this weekend, due to weather and a gun show :dgrin: , but got it dialed in on paper at 100yds.

Clarity is excellent.

Had no trouble getting it to zero and did a little playing back and forth with the adjustments but didn't have time to "box it". Still seems reapetable for zooming in and out ad playing with the windage L-R knob. Got my groups down to .75MOA but really need a higher cheek rest than I have now for a more solid cheek/stock weld.

Humidity and temp started playing hell with mirage even at 100yds, range has a concrete surface and drain to capture any lead, so satisfied with the initial zero and anxious to see what plunder I could find at the show I packed it up and headed for town.

Yep it's possible when set up right with hand loaded ammo and a NM model.
