Just got here and like what I see. I have been shooting competitively for almost 5 years now and am just getting fair at it. I like to shoot the vintage MILSURP Bolt action catagory with either my Turkish 8MM or my Mosin Nagant M-44 Carbine. However, I just recently got me a Bushmaster AR-15 that I am still breaking in.

Welcome!
I never shot with my milsurps in competition but had a bunch of them at one time.
They sure can be fun.

They can be pretty accurate. Specially the old Mausers.

I agree. I had a few Swede 96's and a '38 short rifle(IIRC on year model brain fart here) that would shoot as well as a "new" modern rifle. The '38 had great balance and was about as accurate off hand as benched.

I'll put my Mauser up against my AR-15 any day. The contest would be a tight one.

I live in Hampton roads also, over in Hampton. Trooperdude, maybe we can get together sometime and make some noise.

Welcome to the site. Been reading about the new speeding tickets in Virginia. Pretty stiff smack on the chin for just driving a little fast...

Sounds like fun. I may be going to Chickahominy here soon with the AR and the rest of my BB Shooters.

Yeah, Rich, the whole new "remedial fees" thing is just to make more money, they come right out and say so. Plus, visitors from out of state who commit the same offenses don't have to pay them, just us residents. :hot: :hot:
Just kind of makes me feel special, all warm and fuzzy inside.
Trooperdude, I work about six days a week, five of them nights, but if you're going at the right time, we can meet somewhere in Hampton or York Co., and just go to Lafayette. I have a membership there. Save you some driving. Got outdoor ranges at 50 and 100 yds., and 50 ft. indoor range that is open 24/7. The outdoor range opens 10 am Mon. thru Fri., 8am Sat., and noon Sun. If on a Sat., and I'm not too busy at work, I can sometimes take a day off.

Hi, guys. Had a chance to check out the Mariners Museum? I almost fell off my chair when I saw they'd built a full-scale replica of the USS Monitor!

I haven't been there since they put that in, but I've seen the ads on tv and we're planning a trip there soon to check it out.
