I'm thinking about buying a Uberti 1849 four incher (barrel). Does anybody know about the quality? I have a pos 1851 sheriffs model and a nice Ruger Old Model. I guess I just want one because it looks cool. Am I nuts? Maybe I should buy ammo ammo ammo cuz thats the stuff thats getting scarce.

Just throwing this out for your thoughts.

The Ubertis are pretty well made. They and the Piettas are about the best two Italian made percussion copies available.

Rika about 20 yrs ago i bought a 1849 .31 colt copy, don't remember who made it but it shot nice for a little pocket gun. it was burn't up in a house fire a decade back. gave what was left to a frien of mine thats a black powder nut. he says if it don't smoke he don't shoot it. any way he cleaned it up put grips on it, new nipples and shoots it today. i thought it would be dangeroud to shoot but he says that most black powder guns are not heat treated in the first place so he doesn't see any problem with it. oh well it's been reblued and he case colored the frame it looks really nice and better than when i had it. can't see where you would be making a bad choice getting one.

Midway and DGW seem to offer the Uberti 1849 for around $280.00. Anybody know where I can find one cheaper?

RIKA, I have a Pietta .44 Colt replica and it's a good shooter. It's the only Italian replica I have had, but people say good things about them. I only paid $175.00 for mine, but that was three years ago, things change. Check out the powder charge, though. Pyrodex is quite a bit lower than Black Powder FFG. PITA to clean, worse than metallic corrosive.

The scooter was a total impulse buy, not me at all. I usually research things until they are antiques. Don't know what hit me, I just had to have it. Lot of fun. The salesman looked at me like I had two heads when I scratched out the check on the spot. Kind of like that gun you HAVE to have, Brass Hammer. The last time I did this was when I saw my pristine AR-15 Carbine with a $700.00 price tag on it. ( No, not a 10 inch one!) I drove my motorcycle like a madman to the bank to withdraw the dough. It does not hit me often, but when it does, look out! Maybe it's Agent Orange?

You know that its madness, Terry. Total madness. But its the kind that makes life worth living. Guess we all have it. I know I do at times. Wouldn't change it though.

Neither would I. Sometimes you need to quit worrying about things that never happen. The bills get paid, and a ride in the country on the new scooter is worth a lot. Just today, a doe with three bambi's, and a HUGE snapping turtle crossing the road. To quote Peter Capstick, Snapping Turtles look at you like you owe them money. :laugh01:

While it seems to go on forever, life is but a short wisp of wind, here and then gone, as if it never was. So, might as well get what you want when you can and enjoy it. :bird:

The Bear's from Canada and is NOT scared of people. She had two almost full grown cub's, so we were pretty careful going to the outhouse. The scooters speedometer and odometer are in metric, so I have to convert everything. As far as I can tell I'm getting around 55 MPG. As far as speed goes, I'm still breaking it in. The "chinglish" instruction book is so ludicrous it's unbelivable. Example: "Stay at 25 Kilometers per hour for the first 200 Kilometers, but do not ride at the same speed very long." ????? Salesman said he had his up to 65 MPH. It has a large cargo compartment under the seat which comes in handy for a couple of handguns and several boxes of ammunition.

ha!, I enjoyed that 'ol'-boys 'line-o-****' anyway!!![he was a pretty chipper ol'spine/an 'PROUD'],,,so,,,? yer' sayin' I GOTTA' GO TO ''canada' TO ROPE
BLACK-BEAR???,,,'heh'!

my 'harley-owners-manual' will say the same thing, in the 'break-in' period.

yet, harley rebuilt THIS ENGINE @43K and then 'dude' threw a 'semi-lopin'
cam-shaft to IT.

[it's logged @ 54k,,on the 'police calibrated' odometer,,,today]

he was a 'retired-FED' ,,,and I KNOW HE WAS GLAD "A" AMERICAN BOUGHT/RIDES,,,HIS "ol' scooter"[he was a ex-gas customer/boarder-patrol agent,,,AND "DAMN-GLAD" A ****in'-mexican didn't END-UP with-it]

Midway has the 1849 Colt on seemingly endless backorder. I ordered an 1851 Colt Navy. That should be fun to shoot.

It will be. I have one I've flat wore out. It sits on the mantle to remind me of the good times we shared, and occaisionally I take it down and just handle it for awhile.

G762, thats sooo cool! I love the old C&B's. How much do you pay for caps? I paid $4.99 plus tax for 100 #10's. Thats sick. I wonder if tap-o-cap works.

I think I pay about the same for percussion caps. I use No. #11 Dynamit Nobel - (German made caps) or 'Remington' made. I never liked the CCI caps.Plus, I like the tins the caps come in better from Remington.. ...http://images.outdoorinteractive.net/mgen/0512798.jpghttp://www.blockaderunner.com/images/rws.gif

I have a '51 Navy and a Pocket Navy. The pocket navy is my favorite.

Uberti makes top notch pistols. They are the only company I'd deal with.

You are going to love it.
