I was thinking of getting one but need some feedback on which brand to get.
Distances that would be checked would be up to the 1000yd area.
I'm looking for something reasonble in price, but not a "cheapy".
What I've come up with so far is Leica as far as brands go.
Maybe this link will help a little. The Leica CRF 1200 appears to be really nice.

There should be some excellent info on the SWAT and Sniper forums.

I've been using a Bushnell "Yardage Pro"(?) thats good for 1000 yds. When I need a rangefinder, my boss lets me sign for it on the weekend. I break it, I just bought it. I sign it out about 4-5 times a year and it works great. Handy piece of kit.

i have a Leica and a Nikon rangfinder there both good to 1k plus. the only differance in the two is that the Leica has a tilt meter and calculates for shap angles when bow hunting. other than that the Nikon is just as good at half the cost. if i would have found the Nikon first i would never have spent the extra money for the Leica. check around and get the one that does what you want at the best price. when it comes to rangefinders i don't see much differance in the longer range products, except the price.
