OK, so I know that I should be able to rely upon Cold Steel, Camillus, Benchmade, SOG, etc. and I collect and use those items, but what I'm wondering is has anyone actually gone and used those knock offs giving them not an abuse test but a use test, regular field use?
I pick up anything interesting and there's some company which makes a knock off Ka Bar that comes with neat Kydex sheaths. I initially bought the knives to replace various Ka Bar style knifes (Ontario, Ka Bar) with Kydex, but the knives appear decent. I'm not in the field at all so most stuff I have is unused, but I'm wondering if the stuff works, looks solid and if they save money by paying folks a bowl of rice and the promise not to shoot them in the back of the had if they meet quota, they can still have a good product.
Anyone ever fully test these knives?
Back in the day there were lots of cheapie Pakistani knives with brass hilts and pommels, and leather sheaths...now days there's a wealth of them. The old cheapies worked well enough and they were so low in price you didn't care if you busted them up, which I never managed to.
