Well, were still in CA gearing up for shipping out. We've been getting alot of top notch training and PT (physical training). I didn't realize just how out of shape I had gotten until our first workout as a team. They've got us Reservists intermingled with active duty Seabees, and the differences are glaring. They've got got us beat when it comes to fitness, but we've got the maturity. I'm not quite sure which is better. For the first time since WWII, the Seabees are being issued brand new "goucci" gear instead of Army and Marine Corps hand-me-downs. We've even got "brand new" factory refurbished M16A3 E2s. We can't wait to start the mission for real, we're tasked for a whole lot of diverse missions, which will be challenging and rewarding. I'll post some more when I get a chance, it's time for a run.

Thanks Brass, thanks Rika. There's whole lotta husbands and daddies here too (including me). I think people forget that our families are making a sacrifice too. In fact, I think that our families make a bigger sacrifice than we do. At least while we're gone, we have hardly any free time, they have to miss us every day. Don't get me wrong, I miss my wife and daughter every time I think about them, but my schedule is so full that I don't have much time to dwell on it. My wife on the other hand has to sleep alone after what amounts to just a normal day. My daughter goes to school knowing that her daddy won't be there at reccess every Monday. I go to bed and pass out every night, and Mondays are so hectic that I don't have time to think about missing recess. All I have to do is watch my six and take care of my brothers. My family has to wonder if they'll ever see me again in this life. Hoo-raah and thank you to all of those left behind due to a loved one's service to this great nation. You are all deserving of medals and accolades. Just know that those who have left their families behind appreciate and love you for the sacrifices you make so that we can fulfill our oathes and do our jobs.

Seabees!
