I have several and I read some where that some were actually worth a LOT of money to some collectors. Below is a list of markings on my clips. Some I know where they were made others I don't.
SA--------Srpingfield Armory
BRW------????
AEC------????
HA-------????
If anyone knows where these were made please post the answer in a reply.
Hi Troop, this link should answer most of your questions on M1 clip markings.

Rika- I've no M1 right now but that link was something. Never thought about all the enbloc clip makers during WWII and the Cold War era.
I've also never even checked the mfg of the clips I had when I had them.
Guess there is a collector's market for about everything.

Buyer beware. I just bought a dozen from Gun Parts Inc for an upcoming match next month, all brand new. Unfortunately they don't fit in the rifle! There are absolutely no markings on the clips at all.

I quit buying from Gun Parts Corp after the third attempt.
That was 1990 ish.
Everything they sent me was rusted or bent or of such poor quality it was laughable.
I keep their catalog for the exploded views, and for use as a nice door stop.

I got one left, as I have no M1(least for now:dgrin: * ) that is marked 0 A 0 and a dot- . at the four euqa-distant points in the center.
*- Spent most of the afternoon waiting like a vulture at one gunshop where a guy might be bringing in both a Garand and a M1A to sell.

Well I've ordered from Gun Parts at least 2 dozen times in the last 15 years and it was the first time I've been disappointed. Thats a good track record.

Both my Garands, my ammunition, and Garand accessories (when available) come from CMP. They have never done me wrong. The Garands were both better than CMP rated them. They alway's seem to go low end to not hurt the buyer.
CMP has done right for me also although the stocks on both Garands I got from them were chewed up. Mechanically they were very good along with finish so I can't complain. Now I gotta order some more 30-06 ammo.

rika if you want i have an m-2 ball load that mimics the military load with a 147 gr. bullet. though it shoots better than issue ammo. let me know if you want it.

Yes, please. I have been using 48gr of IMR4895 successfully and am always looking for new loads.
** The above load is safe in my rifle but may not be safe in yours. Always start with a reduced load and work up. Consult your reloading manual. **
Thanks!

I bought 480 rounds from CMP in clips. Greeks stuff, non-corrosive, and 480 rounds of Korean in clips, corrosive, but what they heck, after an extended shoot I tear the rifles completely down anyway for cleaning. Anyway, these two orders have given me enough clips forever. The Greek ammunition is very good as far as accuracy and perfect as far as reliabilty. The Korean corrosive is better. Go figure.

Personally my favourite load with Winchester 147 grain bulk FMJ is 47.5 grains of IMR 4895. I'm shooting a World War 2 re-enacter match in 2 weeks using that load with 145 grain M25 tracer bullets (200 of them). It should be a hoot.

well my favoritest m-2 ball load is 47.0 grains of imr 4895, a preped mil surplus case, federal 210-m primer, and a 147 gr fmj bt bullet. it gives me an average velocity of 2,750 fps out of my garands. it shoots better than any issue ammo i have ever seen, including LC NM ammo. your milage may vary from weapon to weapon.
Interesting. We use 47, 47.5 and 48gr of 4895IMR. Smart minds .....
