Recently, an unjust and irresponsible attack was launched by Wisconsin Gun Owners, Inc. (WGO) incorrectly stating that the National Rifle Association had taken a position in support of Senate Bill 104, an anti-gun bill introduced by State Senator Spencer Coggs (D-6). SB 104 would require ALL private transfers of firearms in Wisconsin to be conducted through a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL). This bill would also require FFL’s to charge an additional $5 for running this background check for the private sale to be processed. A clerical error at the Wisconsin Ethics Board stated that NRA had registered in support of SB 104. This error has since been resolved. The Wisconsin Ethics Board has no documentation in their records of NRA ever communicating a position of support for SB 104.
