That there would be survivalist communities to join on the net. I've always though of this as a low-tech school of thought. But DUH! I'm George Leeson and I'm a father, gun owner and husband in that order. Maybe for conversation's sake, I wonder what you all thing the most immanent threat you are preparing for? Myself, in the Miami area, it's always hurricanes, but after looking at what happened to Tabasco, floods concern me more and more.

Welcome aboard!:wavey:
For me as far as natural disasters it would be Tornado's first, Ice Storms/Heavy Freezing Rain second with Flooding a distant third.
What worries me long term is Human Nature aka Natural Stupidity of the sheeple.

Welcome home. Here in the Ohio Valley it would be tornados, followed by a major flood every 20 years or so followed by really nasty winter weather, again every 20 years or so.
It isn't exactly SHTF, but bad guys theiving and raping is starting to be a concern here in my part of town. It is truly lovely to have a convicted sex offender living right across the street.
Long term, illegals and general human stupidity are my long term worries.

Yes there is "creative stupidity"-politicians are good at that.
And never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.:dgrin:

Welcome Aboard! my main concerns are Aboriginal up rising!
Welcome aboard. There are many things to be worried about. So many that we just do the best we can; prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

For us its earthquake, tsunami, winter heating/power. Only 2 roads in and out of town and with water/ocean on one and mntns on other makes us very dependent of recieved goods. Our local Mat Maid Dairy just closed 2 weeks ago, even after the Gov Palin tried to save it. It had been here for like 75 years or some such. It being closed due to cheaper "Safeway" "Fred Meyer" dairy products, prolly chinese. Dont know what the large local matsu dairy farmers are going to. Most have sold off land to developers anyhow. Bah! I am still holding out for the zombie attack:dgrin:
